Bart Charles Silver of Jerome, Idaho passed away peacefully at his home on February 19, 2024. He was
91.
Dad was born July 4, 1932, in Hailey Idaho. The family moved to Jerome In 1937. Though he was raised
during the Great Depression, when money and jobs were scarce, there was never a shortage of love,
chores or shenanigans at the Silver household.
After serving 4 years in the Navy, Dad attended the Twin Falls Business College, where he met Delores
Durfee. They were married on July 8, 1955. Mom passed in September 2020, after 65 glorious years of
marriage. Their 4 children were the centers of their world. Dad coached our sports teams and instilled a
love for horses, hunting, and camping in his children. He and his brother George owned Jerome Gas &
Oil and Buhl Gas & Oil for many years.
He is survived by their four children Deborah (Leroy Hayes), Bret (Laurie), Michael (Lisa), and Katie (John)
as well as his “bonus” daughter, niece Kristy Silver. He also had 13 grandchildren and 11 great-
grandchildren (with 4 more on the way). His health began to decline several months ago and Deborah,
Bret and Mike would like to acknowledge and thank Katie for everything she did while caring for Dad.
Together with hospice support, Katie did an amazing job at ensuring his needs were met and his quality
of life remained good until the end. Mom and Dad are now together again.
A service will be held at Demaray's Jerome Memorial Chapel on, Saturday, February 24 at 2pm. Burial will
immediately follow at the Jerome Cemetery. Family suggests donations be made to Shriner’s Hospital in
lieu of flowers.
