Josie Marie Riddle

Josie Marie Riddle, 93, of Jerome, Idaho, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024.
Born in Oroville, California on April 11, 1931 to Jacob Moroni DeGraw and Mable VanNatta, she later moved to Jerome, Idaho, where she spent the majority of her life. Known for her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family, Josie touched the lives of all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Josie experienced the joys of marriage and motherhood, building a family that was the center of her world. Josie married Tracy Shields and had her first two children, Michael Shields (Carol) and Patricia Slack. In 1954, Josie married George Miller, with whom she had three children: Diane Sarvela (Dale), George Miller (Linda), and Doug Miller (Sandee). After George’s passing, she later married Clearance “Dale” Riddle and they shared a loving and lasting marriage until 1998 when he passed away.
Josie was a dedicated mother and grandmother, always putting her family’s needs above her own. Josie loved a house full of kids, camping and fishing trips, endless card games and made the best-fried potatoes. Her children and grandchildren are who they are because of her. She lived for them -colored 1000s of coloring pages and read 1000s of books. From snapping green beans to picking cherries, from bubble baths to sitting on the porch swing, she was a constant source of support for her loved ones, and they were all blessed to have her in their lives!
Josie’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of family and all who knew her, but her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the memories she created with them. She is survived by all of her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many extended family members, who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared with family and friends. She has left an indelible mark on this world, and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
