Sherry McCaughey

Sherry Dee McCaughey, 53, of Jerome, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at her home.

Sherry Dee Williams McCaughey (Shashi) was born on September 28th, 1967 to Dennis and Beverly Williams in Pomona, California. Sherry was the middle of three children, older sister Holly and younger brother Russell.

She met the love of her life, Joseph McCaughey through mutual friends. The pair married and resided in Jerome, Idaho on beautiful county property. Sherry enjoyed gardening and caring for the family’s many animals. She was known to enjoy walks and camping trips to connect with nature. A flower child at heart, her mother always said she should have been born in a different decade. Sherry and Joe welcomed their beautiful daughter Sage into the world on December 20th, 1996. Sage was the true light of Sherry’s life.

Sherry had a long and successful career in healthcare. She graduated as a registered nurse from the College of Southern Idaho. Above all else, she cared deeply for other people and was the kindest soul. Sherry simply loved life and looked for the beauty in everything. Even when times got tough she held true to her mantra “This too Shall Pass.”

Sherry is preceded in death by her father Dennis Williams, and her grandparents Florence (Deanie) and Albert (Bud) Moore, and her grandparents Shirley and Lois Williams. Sherry is survived by her husband Joseph McCaughey, and their daughter Sage McCaughey. Sherry is also survived by her mother Beverly Williams, siblings, nieces and nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.

At Sherry’s request, there will be no formal services. Memories and condolences can be left with Demaray's Jerome Memorial Chapel (demaraysjerome.com).

I’M FREE

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,

I’m following the path God laid for me

I took his hand when I heard him call,

I turned my back and left it all

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work or play

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I’ve found that peace at the close of day

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too will miss

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow

My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,

Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch

If my time seemed all too brief,

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief

Lift up your heart, rejoice with me,

God wanted me now, He set me free.
