Starts at 11:00 am (Mountain time)
Thomas Leon McCord, 70, of Jerome, passed away on July 8, 2026, at DeSano Assisted Living in Jerome.
Tom was born on July 10, 1955, in Jerome, the son of Lloyd and Harriet (Washburn) McCord. He was raised and educated in Jerome. Tom married Helen Elaine Lyons on March 7, 1983, in Jerome, and together they had two children, Laurel and David.
Tom was a skilled mechanic. He started a successful business repairing and replacing water well pumps, and continued that work until Parkinson’s Disease forced his retirement.
He was an Idaho and Magic Valley history buff, like his mother. Tom liked to go on ATV rides to enjoy the scenery and explore historic sites. He had a special interest in the history of mining in Southern Idaho and always wanted to write a guidebook to old mine sites.
Tom enjoyed the country life, fresh sweet corn, and a burger at the county fair. He was never without a shop cat, and usually a shop dog as well. He took time to enjoy trips to visit older relatives, attend family reunions, and reminisce about times gone by.
Tom is survived by his son, David McCord; his daughter, Laurel McCord; two brothers, Hal McCord and Clinton McCord (Rose); two sisters, Cheryl McCord (Bill Clark) and Rita McCord (Ken Fischer); and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Harriet, and his wife Helen.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on September 19, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. A gathering for friends and family will follow the graveside service.
