"In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore." [Jesus said] I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you also may be. John 14:3
Bruce Nathan Slaughter passed away on Sunday, January 31, in Jerome, Idaho, at age 69. He was at home with family at his side.
Bruce was born on September 30, 1951, in Nampa, Idaho, to Rev. Charles A. Slaughter and Mary Doloris (Carter) Slaughter. He was raised and educated in Idaho. He married Janet (Bowman) Slaughter on May 28, 1975, in Pendleton, Oregon.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors. This included football, baseball, golf, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also found pleasure in crafting with wood and rock. He was a gift-giver - giving of his time, talent, and treasure. The most amazing gift he shared is the good news of God’s gift to us all in Jesus Christ. Bruce loved the Lord and worshiped His Savior even as some of his last words. He was thankful for his family. His love for his wife was especially great, and he often remembered that she was the one for him. Even in the midst of his dementia, he proposed over and over to his Janet. She always said, “Yes.”
Bruce is survived by not only his wife, Janet, but also his son Glenn Bobb Slaughter (Jami Slaughter), and his two daughters Sheila Kay (Slaughter) Tatro (Mark Tatro) and Karie Ann Slaughter, as well as by his eight grandchildren Bryce Nathan Tatro, Faith Slaughter, Zachary Ashwin Tatro, Xander Glen Tatro, Trustin Elias Tatro, Jonah Marcus Tatro, Kristayla May Tatro, and Liberty Paxanna Tatro. Bruce is also survived by three brothers and five sisters, while his parents and a younger sister have preceded him in death. As Bruce loved to sing his whole life long, we are convinced he is already signed up for the heavenly choir, and we look forward to singing along with him again one day.
